Foam overflows through the dishwasher door seal during the cycle. The dishwasher stops during the cycle and this is because the foam cut out or overfill has been activated. There is foam remaining in the dishwasher at the completion of the cycle.
Cause & Prevention
Cause: Oversudsing can be caused be the use of laundry detergent or handwash detergent instead of the automatic dishwashing detergent.
Prevention: Ensure that the correct detergent has been used, Try Finish or Fairy.
Cause: Spilling excessive rinse aid when filing the rinse aid dispenser.
Prevention: Take care when filling the rinse aid dispenser.
Cause: A high level of soil containing protein, eg egg, can also cause foaming.
Prevention: Remove excess food from the dishes.
Cause: Using detergent with rinse aid built in and putting rinse aid in the dispenser.
Prevention: If using detergent with rinse aid built in don’t put any rinse aid in the dispenser.
Treatment: Switch off the dishwasher as soon as you notice excessive foaming. Allow the foam to settle for about 1 hour, empty the dishwasher and then perform a rinse and hold cycle to remove the suds.
